In recognition of her significant contribution to the Baku 2015 European Games, Catherine Ugwu was awarded the Dostlug Order (Order of Friendship) by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

Catherine Ugwu was awarded an MBE in the New Year 2013 Honours list for her significant contribution to the successful delivery of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
